QUALITY INFORMATION

How to read quality statements

Quality language is most useful when it is specific, traceable, and tied to a stated method. This guide defines common terms without making blanket claims about products or suppliers.

Identity

Information intended to support what a material is; review method and reference details.

Purity

A method-dependent measurement. It is not interchangeable with identity, concentration, sterility, or safety.

Batch scope

A record applies only within its stated sample, lot, date, and method scope.

Questions to ask

  • Which sample and lot were measured?
  • Which method and reference standard were used?
  • What units and acceptance criteria are reported?
  • Who issued the record, and what does it explicitly cover?

Avoid over-reading labels

A single percentage or marketing phrase cannot answer every quality question. Compare the result with the method and the intended research context.

Review the product-specific COA where available and ask for clarification when a method, lot, or result is unclear.
